It’s very motivating to see this thing grow. One of many Amazon marketing tools provides a world map of our participating subscriber’s. It’s quite interesting to follow the little circles of activity. Some circles are already quite large and all of them have been growing daily.
Thanks to every one for participating with getting out the word to family/friends and colleagues.
When future participants, if they so choose, pass our website: whispersfromkithandkin.com along to their people, please remind them that by clicking on subscribe they are assured that they will not miss out on all the upcoming surprises.
I have a short clip from our legend’s Prelude section, Page 1, for your early reading enjoyment.

A shot exploded. The horse reared. Absolute horror in its eyes, splitting its undersides. The sky was dark, full of smoke. Shot after shot, screaming soldiers. An officer yelled, “General Custer, General Custer, over here!”
A little boy awakened during his afternoon nap. Screaming, Mother, Mother, Ajax and Father are-----”
The brochure read, “Gettysburg, the re-enactment of the 1863 battle scenes.” Shannon had been in the process of putting things away and had set the brochure on the coffee table. Gerry yelled, “Shannon look at this. It brings to mind--- history with animation.”
That’s it for today gang!!!.
Now on to Shannon’s Book Club of Recipes. Shannon take it away!

Hello everyone, my gift for you today is a very old recipe that was handed down from my Grandmother Sager. She lived in St. Joseph Missouri in the notorious outlaw Jesse James's era.
Fruit Dumplings
7 to 8 cups mixed berries. Any combination of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.
1 cup white sugar.
1 cup water.
Grated rind of one lemon.
Combine all ingredients in large skillet with at least three inch sides and a tight fitting lid.
Simmer until fruit is soft.
Meanwhile in a bowl combine
1 ¾ cups white flour.
4 tsp baking powder.
½ tsp salt.
2 tbsp white sugar.
Put 2 eggs in a one cup measure and fill to one cup with milk or water. Stir to blend with fork. Add wet ingredients to flour mixture and gently stir just until combined. (do not over mix). Tip: dip spoon each time into sauce then into batter and drop small amounts (golf ball size) on top of simmering fruit. This help
s batter to release from the spoon. When all fruit is dotted with batter cover with lid and simmer for fifteen to eighteen minutes without lifting the lid, (don’t peek).
Serve with whipped cream, crème fraiche or ice cream.
Note:
Dumpling batter can be used in soups, just omit the sugar.
Note: Any fruit can be used. Plumbs or peaches can be substituted. Cut larger fruit into smaller pieces.
Enjoy!
