The last chapter of the Part One novel
Chapter 84
Regardless, Lee ordered Pickett to charge. The Southern cause for independence was at the very heart of the charge.
In concert with Pickett’s frontal attack, Lee ordered Stuart’s cavalry to skirt to the north around the Union’s fishhook pattern and gain access from the east to attack the rear of the defenceless defenders’ position.
Despite heavy losses, Pickett’s forces broke through the defenses. Where was Stuart’s cavalry?
Stuart’s cavalry had followed Lee’s orders. However, once again the Michigan Wolverines were there. This time, it was on the Gettysburg East Cavalry Field. The smoke from the gunfire obscured the close quarters of the two opposing cavalry forces. After a split second and the clearing of smoke, two more shots were fired. Both the horse and rider fall.

A Southern cavalry bugle blasted its retreat signal. It was evident that the tide of the battle had turned. The shooter hollered in acknowledgment to his friend. “We’re not going to win this fight! We’re outgunned. They have those new repeating rifles. We have to get
back to the woods.”

Little Eddy, awakened from his afternoon nap screaming, “Mother, Mother, Ajax and Father are—”
He hadn’t finished his dream’s account before breaking into uncontrollable sobbing.
Clara rushed to her son, who was fevered. She embraced him with reassuring words, “It’s just a
bad dream.” She too broke into tears.

“Really, that’s hard to even comprehend. The civil war was a terrible tragedy for the country to endure - What about all the families - How did they ever get over such a thing?
Ghost person: Mr. A.G. from Houston Texas U.S.A. wrote, the next sentence in the prelude section of the novel answers the question. i.e. When the only bread winner of the family is killed in their prime of life, only now is the impact to my generation beginning to catch up with our monetary inheritance that was lost. It should have been our families all along. Instead it was lost with the death of our family member.

Shannon’s Recipe Corner: Oreo Cookie Balls
37- Oreo cookies ground fine in a food processor.
1 - 8oz package cream cheese room temperature (not the spreadable kind).
Combine crumbs with softened cream cheese with hand mixer or food processor.
Scoop mixture and roll into balls about 1 tablespoon per ball.
Roll it in your hands to make a smooth ball.
Melt real chocolate (not chocolate chips).
If chocolate seems too thick to dip, add a few drops of vegetable or coconut oil. Dip balls in chocolate.
Refrigerate and decorate as desired.
